Frequently Asked Questions
What is a CRF Support Group?
It is one of two Yahoo Groups that focuses on CRF Issues. The first is "Feline-CRF-Support" this Group has over 7,360 members who are dealing with or have dealt with Kitties who have CRF disorders. Discussions include: First Time Administration Tips and Techniques, How to understand the test numbers, questions can be posted here and shortly thereafter will be answered typically by 3-6 members to assist you, etc. The second Group is "FelineCRF" they have about 1000 members and share similar content as the other.
Let's face it, it's nice to be able to talk to someone who is experienced with the challenges we face, and at the CRF Support Groups you will find that.
*(You will need to create a Yahoo account and then request permission to join the group, typically this takes about 24 hours.)Click the Link to access the page:

What is DEHP?
DEHP is a chemical sometimes used in manufacturing plastics to make the plastic softer and more plyable (less ridgid), such as the IV Bags the solutions are packaged in.
There have been some studies suggesting, that over time, it is suspected that DEHP may leach out of the bags and into the fluids.
(ALL of our fluids are FRESH, so the liklihood of leaching is diminished due to the limited amount of time that the fluids have been packaged in the bags.)
*Some people and animals may have an allergic reaction to DEHP.**BBraun Fluid Bags "Are Not" manufactured using the chemical DEHP.**
How fresh are your fluids?
All fluids are very fresh, we turn around our average inventory, approximately 50 cases, every 7 days.
Our expiration dates are typically 2 years out.
(As of this writing, current cases expire 2008/2009)
What do these abbreviations mean next to the needle descriptions?
RW = Regular Wall
TW = Thin Walled Needle
UTW = Ultra Thin Wall
*The "Inner" diameter of the needle is the thinnest in an UTW needle, whereas the channel is larger which allows better flow, and easier penetration of the skin.
Which guage of needle is thinnest?
14g Needles are VERY BIG, HUGE if you will, these would intimidate and scare anyone!
30g Needles would be VERY THIN, Small if you will, these would be like accupuncture needles (not quite that thin, but you get the idea!)
18g, 19g, 20g, 21g, are your standard injection, infusion size gauges.
What are Winged Infusion Sets?
Some of our customers like to use Winged Infusion Sets to administer thier fluids. They are one piece needle and line devices, the lines are only 12" in length, and I believe you still need an administration set to attach to the bag. If you check with the CRF Support Group, I am sure others can assist you with proper usage.(Here is a Picture)
What if I need or want something not listed on the CRF Site or Order Pages?
Anything not listed on the Site that you wish to purchase can be ordered in the "Comment Section" of the order form at the bottom of the page. If you would like a quote for an item, this too can be requested in the "Comment Section" of the order form.
